"In Qatar, there’s no difference between washing your face or cooking it."

““Qatar: You have one cow that has hundreds of udders. You use the limitless milk money to set up a television channel that broadcasts the other cows in the region being milked (except Saudi Arabia’s).””

-

Qatar gets a mention in this tongue-in-cheek article featured in ForeignPolicy.com.

Entitled “The Cynical Dairy Farmer’s Guide to the New Middle East,” the piece by Karim Sadjadpour uses a couple of cows to “explain a changing region” - with a disclaimer that it’s an “equal opportunity offender edition.”

A few months old, but inspirational nonetheless!

TEDxDoha:

After Ahmed Al Baker, a 23-year-old Qatari, graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering, he went straight to work doing 12-hour shifts as an engineer at Qatar Petroleum.

But really, he always wanted to become a filmmaker. He found himself dreaming up stories on his daily commutes.

One year ago, he decided it was time to pursue his passion. And now, despite no formal training, he’s already finished shooting his first feature film, a science-fiction mystery with 3-D elements that he wrote, produced and directed called “The Package: Volume 1.”

The film is notable for its daring use of color, lighting and texture.

At TEDxDoha Ahmed talks about how he made his dream a reality.

Just heard Qatar pronounced “cutter”. America is full of such smart people.
